Water Bank opportunity for the 2027 irrigation season
Carbon Canal Company will be offering shareholders the opportunity to participate in the Carbon Canal Company Water Bank for the 2027 irrigation season. The Water Bank allows shareholders to choose to fallow a field(s), deposit their corresponding CCC shares into the Water Bank, and receive compensation for the leased water. The Water Bank then leases that water to The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR), or Trout Unlimited (TU) for the irrigation season. This is a completely voluntary and compensated leasing program offered by CCC to its shareholders.
Please see additional details in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) below.
FAQ
What is the rate of compensation for leasing water through the Water Bank?
Shareholders will be paid per AF of conserved consumptive use. A lease price will be provided by December 15. Conserved consumptive use is the water depletion that would otherwise occur on an irrigated field and is instead being leased through the Bank.
How do I participate?
The first step is to fill out and submit an Interest Statement (https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:US:dc8a1afb-354b-4f9f-ad5c-d2780bc8e66f) indicating your interest in participating for the 2027 irrigation season. Submitting this form is NOT a commitment to participate or a guarantee of being selected for participation. It is solely an indication of interest.
You can download and print the linked form above or stop by the CCC offices to pick up a copy of the form. The CCC office is located at 23 S. Carbon Ave., Suite #10.
Please submit the form by November 26, 2026, to Jenifer Stansfield, either at the CCC offices or at carboncanal@emerytelcom.net.
When do I have to decide if I want to participate?
Shareholders who would like to participate in the irrigation season 2027 will decide in early February 2027 by submitting a Deposit Form to CCC. CCC will provide this form to all interested shareholders by December 15. The Leasing Entities (TNC, DWR, TU) will decide upon the shares they desire to lease by February 19, 2027.
How will the leased water be used?
The water leased by the Leasing Entities (TNC, DWR, TU) will support environmental benefits in the Price River system. The water may be sent to Olsen Reservoir and/or downstream to the lower Price River.
How does payment work, and when will I get paid?
Participating shareholders will be paid for each acre-foot of conserved consumptive use that would otherwise be depleted on an irrigated field. Payment is due to all participating shareholders no later than December 10, 2027, or such earlier date as may be agreed upon.
Is this a multi-year commitment?
No, shareholders will decide each year if they want to participate in the Bank for the upcoming irrigation season.
What is required of me?
Participating shareholders must identify the field(s) they would like to fallow and identify the corresponding shares of CCC Stock they are enrolling in the Water Bank for the season. The fields must have been irrigated with CCC water within the previous seven years to be eligible for participation in the Water Bank.
Participating shareholders can expect that CCC will reach out regarding any reporting requirements and questions regarding enrolled lands and shares.
